This is the life

Camera Angles

  • Opening shot → establishing shot → in the kitchen
  • Close up → mom → emotions → match on action
  • Hand held shot → make it realistic
  • Over the shoulder shot
  • Close up → dad → emotions
  • Medium close up of dad → barrier between dad and son & symbolise jail?
  • Low angle → camera on desk → patrol officer
Mise en Scene

  • Morning → lighting → props = dressing gown, cereal box, getting ready for school etc.
  • props → shopping trolly = a distraction to cheer her brother up and to say sorry for being late.
  • Rubbish on the streets → deprived area.
  • Working class → eating dinner in front of the t.v on their laps not in the dining room.
  • Room in the university → meant to be the police station? → stationary and a schedule implies office.
Sound

  • incidental music → guitar and violin = relaxing → slow tempo → fades in and out.
  • Dialogue.
  • Ambient souds → traffick, etc.
Editing

  • Slow and fast cuts betwee each screen shot and scene.
  • Seamless editing → girl turning up with the trolly = cuts to them running across the brin with the boy inside the trolly.
Objective of the story

Possible objectives
= The young boy trying to reconnect with his father after many years in prison.
= Craigs past? Autobiography? Connection with the character dean?
